Growing CLover
Have you spotted clover growing in your vegetable beds? It’s got a distinctive leaf shape which makes it one of the most recognisable weeds you’ll find.
Should you leave it to grow? Clover fixes nitrogen from the air into the soil. It forms little packets of it on the roots. If you dig it up you will find them. They’re quite small but look almost like very tiny potatoes. If you leave the clover roots in the soil this nitrogen can then be used by other plants.
There are a couple of types. You can leave the short white one which you’d find in lawns – it’s not very aggressive and you can certainly be happy to leave it on empty land. Red clover is more lush and might be a problem competing with your veggies so you should probably remove it. However in an empty seed bed you can leave it as a green manure.
Harvesting vegetables is something you’ll have started doing now – there should be some early beans, salads and strawberries ready. It’s also nearly time for the new potatoes to be started. When you harvest them you can use a special fork designed to help you avoid spiking the potatoes. You can of course just use a normal fork and be careful! Dig one plant up and make sure you get all the potatoes out of the ground. Even the tiny ones will grow. Put all the leaves and stems in the compost. If they have blight on them you should burn them.
Your compost heap should be filling up with weeds at the moment! The warm weather encourages them to grow like mad and the rain we have just makes them grow quicker! If you’ve got lots of dandelion roots and dock roots I always think they’re not going to rot down in the compost. Some people swear they do if you can get it hot enough – and that means a good mix of materials and to get the compost up to a good temperature. It probably means a good stir round after a few weeks though to check the process.
aesthetic-doctor.com
aesthetic-doctor.com is the online presence of Dr Darren, a graduate from the University of Glasgow Medical School who has been practicing Botox in Glasgow for a number of years and who specialises in non surgical facial rejuvenation. In other words you don’t have to have an operation to see noticeable results and can be in an out of your appointment on the same day.
The site is easy to navigate and understand with everything you need to know laid out in a logical manner. Dr Darren lists the procedures he currently offers and should you wish for more information you can click on the relevant link and it will give you a brief description of what is entailed.
Once you’ve decided on what want to have done there is a helpful section of before and after shots to give you an idea of what you can expect from this particular doctor, with a simple to understand price list following on from that. We suggest you pay particular attention to Dr Darren’s rather generous price promise, where they guarantee they will beat the rate of any other doctor who offers the same service but at a lower rate to aesthetic-doctor’s current price list.
Should you need a bit more persuading there are a couple of articles on the site that have been published in the national press by Dr Darren plus the practice’s telephone number is prominently displayed in the top right hand corner should you decide to book a session there and then, or just have any further questions you want answered.
Overall, an easy site to use where everything you need is clearly defined and laid out and a potentially difficult subject to explain is described in an accessible manner with the minimum amount of jargon possible.
